In 1992, best friends Mike Cassidy and Sid Keay discussed the idea of holding a small golf tournament to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis. Mike suffered from CF and Sid had relatives that were affected as well. The idea was simply to get friends and business acquaintances together for a fun day of fund raising. 18 years later that idea was spawned the largest private source of funds for Cystic Fibrosis in British Columbia raising over $2.5 million. Cystic Fibrosis is Ireland's most common genetically inherited disease. With 1100+ CF Patients, Ireland has the highest proportion of CF people in the world. CF Ireland was established by a small dedicated group of parents in 1963 with the first meeting in Crumlin Children's Hospital. 2013 marks the 50th anniversary of the Association.
